My name is Hanna.

I’m so glad you’re here.

Hanna Hasselschwert is the founder of Acacia End of Life Services and a compassionate Death Doula dedicated to helping people die with dignity. From early preparation and comfort support in hospice to celebration of life planning, Hanna works with individuals and families to make life’s final transition as gentle and meaningful as possible.

She is also the co-founder of the Michigan Deathcare Collaborative, a nonprofit empowering our region in community-based and holistic care of the dying, the dead, and the grieving through education and advocacy. A graduate of the Going with Grace End of Life Doula program and an advanced planning facilitator trained by Respecting Choices, Hanna brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her work.

Hanna hosts the Ypsilanti Death Cafe, creating a space for open conversations about mortality, and manages the Last Chapter Collective, a monthly book club exploring death and dying through literature.

Hanna’s dedication to end-of-life care comes from personal experience—losing her father unexpectedly as a child showed her the profound importance of support, presence, and preparation. She believes that by facing death with openness and compassion, we can approach the end of life with dignity, understanding, and even peace.

What is end-of-life care?

From advanced medical, disposition, and memorial planning, to navigating hospice care and family support in real time, I work with the dying and their families to make this transition as easy as possible.

Acacia End of Life Services offers end-of-life care to those with and without terminal diagnoses, and the services you’ll receive will vary based on your life stage.
